Maternal Health IVRS System

Project overview

Designed, developed, and now maintaining an automated outbound Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) aimed at strengthening awareness and community outreach on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) topics. The solution enables large-scale dissemination of health information through scheduled automated voice calls to beneficiaries, ensuring the timely delivery of key health messages and improved community engagement. The platform includes a web-based administration module for beneficiary data management, voice content mapping, call scheduling, and campaign monitoring.

Scope of work

The assignment encompassed the end-to-end design, development, deployment, and maintenance of an outbound Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) for MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child (MAMTA-HIMC) to support awareness generation and community outreach on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) themes. The project included the development of a web-based administration platform for beneficiary data management, call scheduling, campaign configuration, and monitoring. The system enabled automated outbound voice calls to beneficiaries, with intelligent call retry mechanisms for unsuccessful attempts to maximize outreach and engagement. Data management functionalities included beneficiary record upload, validation, editing, deletion, and duplicate detection to ensure data quality and operational efficiency. The assignment also involved integrating and managing multilingual voice content, enabling health awareness messages to be mapped and delivered to specific beneficiary groups. A comprehensive Management Information System (MIS) dashboard was developed to provide real-time visibility into call campaigns, beneficiary coverage, call disposition status, connectivity rates, and programme performance through graphical analytics and reports. To ensure scalability and uninterrupted service delivery, the solution was deployed using a robust telephony infrastructure with multiple SIP lines and high-volume calling capacity, enabling large-scale outreach campaigns across target geographies. Continuous technical support, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization were provided to maintain system availability and reliability. The project further supported programme managers and stakeholders by providing access to actionable data, analytical insights, and reporting mechanisms, enabling effective monitoring of awareness campaigns, assessing beneficiary reach, and supporting evidence-based decision-making to improve health communication interventions.
